The Eyre Affair (Joni)
I read this book a few years ago. I meant to read it again for this club but I got distracted by Dan Brown’s new novel and read it instead. I’m a bit fuzzy on the details so I’m going to skip the questions and just talk basics. I do remember enjoying this book and thinking the use of words and language was really creative and fun. My main issue with it was at that point in time I had not read Jane Eyre, the main focus of the novel. In the book one of the characters goes into the book and changes it from one plot to another. This was all fine, except that I didn’t know the significance of the Jane Eyre plot changes at the time, so for me I think that was lost on me and probably would have made a difference if I had known what was being changed and why. Since then I have read Jane Eyre…excellent book, by the way. I think if I re-read The Eyre Affair now it would have more of an impact. But I don’t know…did this matter much to any of the other readers?

I haven’t read Jane Eyre, it didn’t really bother me. I was a bit clueless in spots, so I was thinking about reading it. It’s made it on “the list” anyways. :)
